Six Reasons Why Sports Injuries Happen

Sports InjuriesSports comes with risks. Every sportsman knows that. But so many famous athletes had been with stitches and meds after some injuries. And it doesn’t hinder them. Take the basketball players, boxers, football players, they came out alive and well despite some collisions and heated games. Except for those few who had it bad, sports had been still that famous.

Questions, Questions, Why?

But why do certain injuries happen? Why are athletes after same and same accidents still can’t avoid injuries? Who is to blame?

A fired of mine once played forward in his football team. And during the intense game an accident happened, he was injured, broke his ankle and was never to play again. But he accepted it wholeheartedly that is quite the opposite of some drama laden series. I asked him what happened, said he just “kinda” lost some concentration. And this is where I got the idea for this article
Reasons Why Injuries Happens in Sports

1.    No warm ups. These has been one of the blunders in sports, no warm ups or there hasn’t been enough to start with. This can cause shock to muscles thus will result to accidents.

2.    Bad decisions. This is a “do or die” mindset of some athletes. Thinking that this might be their last chance and the break will never happen again. And their body seems to be their only armor at the moment. And for those not too smart decisions, you ended up with a cast and a three month therapy.

3.    Incompetent gears and bad shoes. These gears may include helmets, knee pads, incompatible shoes, body pads, etc. The failure of these gears to do its job sometimes may lead to serious injuries.

4.    Poor health. Sometimes poor health can be another reason for injuries. Poor health may result to poor stamina, little energy and lethargy. This can be bad for the game. Aside from the fact that you are endangering yourself, you are also putting your team or game in a bad light.

5.    Alcohol. In professional athletics, alcohol and other substance test is done. But then in some little matches for local games, it seldom happens. We know that alcohol dampens your judgment and even your motor skills. And nobody can contradict that.

6.    Accidents. And this is the main reason why injury statistics for sports keep getting higher. There is just the accident. Nobody wills it. Everybody’s in the right gear, no alcohol or anything impending judgment, it just happened. Destiny willed it and bam, you’re on a cast. Best thing to do is to have it healed.

And we can’t go back in time after sports injuries injuries, the best thing to do is heal it right and never do the same mistakes again. “Be careful” and “play smart” would be the words of wisdom here. And another thing to avoid such accidents is respect everybody and do not think too high of yourself.
Going on a game? Check first with the things above, and one more thing, be sure to follow rules.

Feet and Toes: How Important are they?

For girls, mani and pedi (girl slang for manicures and pedicures) can be the ultimate fun aside from shopping. A foot massage and a spa can complete everything too. And that’s how far we can go with taking care of our precious feet. That goes even worse for guys too. And now, you readers will think that here’s another girl talk, but hold that thought.

The point that I really want to drive at is the way you give attention to the most slaved and most worked part of your body which is your feet. Remember, they do the job everyday of carrying us everywhere we want it to be, minus the gas.

And that would be even worse for professions who use and abuse their lower extremities. Like athletes and sportsmen. They do use their feet more (depending on the sports, but most of the time it’s a yes) than ordinary people do.

What abuse can you do to your feet and toes?

Over walking, overrunning and no proper care. Those can be few of the reasons. Sometimes what your feet and gums really need is a rest. As simple as that. But for professions who do more with physical activities, injuries can be a common occurrence. Why? It’s because of the physicality of it thus it can’t be avoided.

How do you take care of your feet?

•    The first thing would be to wear the right shoes. Not too tight, not too loose. The perfect shoes can cushion the fall of our body thus relieving some stress from our feet, relieving some tensions too.

•    Go for spa. Or you can do massage. Choose the things where you are comfortable with.

•    Wear supports and the right socks. That can help the shoes in alleviating the impact.

•    Do not abuse your feet. Do not test your body; you know it can take only so much.

•    Take time everyday or every night to rest it. Completely rest it.

•    Be aware of symptoms of abuse. If it’s too much and your feet will be giving up, try to take an advice. Give it a break

How about injured feet?

Well you can do so many things to your feet, more use and abuse, but when it comes to healing injured feet, there can only be one expert on it.  The field of podiatry. Sounds foreign? Podiatry is concerned with the feet and all the lower extreme parts of your body. It heals and keeps it protected. Podiatry is popular in sports world where the first thing that athletes injure is their feet.

Podiatry can do lots of procedure such as varied treatments which includes but is not limited to massage, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and other procedures that is akin to podiatry. Just like other medicine field, a trained podiatrist is licensed and knows what he does. And podiatry isn’t only true to feet; it is concerned with toenails too.

And for now? You better take care of those feet; you will be a goner without them. But if you do have a problem with those parts you call a podiatrist. They can do the job best.
